“JESUS DID WHAT HE DID BECAUSE HE KNEW WHO HE WAS!”

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book He is— I am

This week's focus: THE NECESSITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

The Holy Spirit- We have talked so much about it. But when do we first learn about it? If we look, way back to when Mary was pregnant with baby Jesus, the bible tells us “The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. “Luke 1:35

Wow even then there was Holy Spirit!!! Do you think it was the holy spirit that was filling Mary to make her feel comfortable when she was told that she was pregnant? That's pretty BIG NEWS to hear! But Mary was so good with it the whole time. I think it was the peace the holy spirit brought to her that helped her realized it was going to be ok.

Let's soak to: “Rest on us” by Brandon Lake

during this time I want you to try to focus on a time where you were told something that didn't make you feel the most settled. Ever have news that makes you feel uneasy? Now picture the holy spirit coming into the situation and helping you to find and have peace about it.

Now get out a blank piece of paper. You can either just draw yourself in that situation after the holy spirit has filled you, or draw a line down the centre of the page and show both before and after. If you don't want to draw you can just write about it, or perhaps make up a song about it.

Next, let's learn about another time the Holy Spirit shows up in the bible

READ: Jesus’ baptism. Matthew 3:13-17.

What's neat about this story??? This is the time where the heaven's opened up and released the holy spirit (his helper). This is also where his ministry began. Without this, we would never have been given the same gift of the holy spirit a short time later (our helper).

Now.... let's review the “I am declarations of Jesus” again.

If you don't have your objects gathered up, now's the time to run around your house and find objects that will help you to remember the scriptures that go along with each thing (they don't have to be the same, use whatever you have that will help you to remember. If you can't find it... simply print a picture of it off the computer.

First, start of by clicking the video below to watch Jeff show us them again. For fun try holding up your object at the same time that he is and repeat the declarations after him.

This week's focus: THE POWER OF DECLARATION.

What does it mean to declare? The dictionary says it means to “formally declare a state or situation...”. So what does that mean? When you “declare” something, think of it as an announcement of something.

This year, I'd LOVE if we could focus on declaring POSITIVE (or happy) things. So how do we do this????? Let's turn to the bible and read one of my FAVORITE scriptures EVER!!!!!!!!! Let's turn to Romans 12:2 and read it.

“Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind”.

?? What does that mean?? Simply put, you don't have to make bad choices or have bad thoughts just because everyone else is- YOU can have your own good thoughts-like the ones God gives you. Yea!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that were talking about good thoughts.... let's review the “I am declarations of Jesus”.

If you don't have your objects gathered up, now's the time to run around your house and find objects that will help you to remember the scriptures that go along with each thing (they don't have to be the same, use whatever you have that will help you to remember. If you can't find it... simply print a picture of it off the computer.

Another cool verse that talks about good declarations is:

Proverbs 16:24 “kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”

Lets get these words a buzzzin! Cut up a peice on paper into either 4 or 8 peices (you decide how many)

On the front of them write the verse above, and then decorate however you'd like (you can use the picture above as an example) Next, watch the youtube clip “Different” by Micah Tyler.

When the video is done, ask God to give you the names of people you know, and ask him for some “life giving words” for them (remember, life giving words are things that encourage people and say happy things about them) take the papers you made above and write these things on the opposite side.

If it's safe to do so..... deliver or mail these to the people. Won't it feel great to be giving positive encouraging words out........ we can do the same by speaking these about ourselves...... God loves each and everyone of us and he knows we are all AMAZING!!
