This Week's Focus:

He Is ... I Am
GOOD

 He Is ... I Am
Mercy

LET'S READ: Jonah

unnamed (51).png

Bible Story: The whole book of Jonah. Jonah and the whale- You can either read it in the bible, or watch the song clip below:

Activity: Jonah and the Great Fish Craft

What would you have done if you were Jonah?  Can you imagine being swallowed by a whale???? Gross! Scarey!

Let’s pretend by making our craft below. It shows a Jonah figure, but you can make your own and make it look like you.

Reflect Song

unnamed (33).png

While soaking, think of Jonah and how amazing it must have felt for him to feel God’s mercy when he had the Whale spit out Jonah safely onto shore..  Think about all the different times that God has shown you Mercy?  Have you ever done something you later realized wasn’t the best choice, and then his mercy was shown and you could feel his warmth and love???  Let’s try REALLY hard this week to show those around us that same mercy.

This Week's Focus:

He Is ... I Am
GOOD

-from beginning to end His Life is Mine (jn 17)

LET'S READ:  2 Kings 4:1-7
The Widow and the Jars of Oil

Anytime I think about oil I can’t help but be reminded of the story of the oil that ran out of a bible.  They felt like the lord said the oil will continue to flow out as long as they keep giving it away…. And that’s just what they did, and it kept going and going.  We were even fortunate enough at Selah to get a jar of it.

unnamed (44).png

Some of you may remember seeing it and being blessed by it as you were anointed by the oil……. So much like today’s story…..

Activity: Widow and Jars Craft

Print out and colour the pages.  Then cut out along the solid lines down the wall and around the jars.  Next cut out the circle on the second page.  Then put the circle in behind the first page and insert a brad into the tiny dot right in front of the widows apron and through the dot on the circle.  Now spin the circle and watch the oil flow

unnamed (33).png

I love the one line  “This empty space is what you’ve wanted all along”.  It reminds me of today’s lesson.  The widow had lots of empty space in her jar… when she turned to the lord he filled it to overflowing for her.

This Week's Focus:

He Is ... I Am
GOOD

Producing good fruit

LET'S READ:  Galatians 5:22-33

Have you ever planted a garden??  It takes a lot of hard work to make sure the soil is ready to do, then you have to dig and plant the seeds and then water the plant.  This is a VERY important step. You MUST water the plant regularly and give it good sunlight to make it grow.

Let’s use some of our “fruits” to spread his word

You will need:
9 Rocks (if you can’t find 9 rocks then you can just cut rock shapes out of construction paper)
Paint brush and paints or markers

Use your creativity to paint patterns and designs on all the rocks, then write one of the “fruits of the spirit” on each rock (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control)

unnamed (47).png

Once dry, wouldn’t it be great if you could leave these painted rocks around the town for others to enjoy. Whether you put one on your neighbours doorstep or leave on a park bench or walking trail.  Just this week I saw this rock on the local walking trail and immediately it lifted my spirits

Now, let’s take time to review the fruits of the spirit in the fun song by “Uncle Charlie” that I did  during our children’s ministry moment before this morning’s message.

LET'S READ:  Ephesians 2:10
WE ARE GOD’S MASTERPIECE - CREATED FOR GOOD WORKS IN CHRIST

God’s masterpiece-What does the word masterpiece even mean?  A masterpiece is an artists BEST piece of work.  So that means that you are Gods’ best peice of work. That’s amazing.  Next, let’s watch this music video. Move along with the beat, and celebrate that you are  God’s masterpeice.

God's Masterpiece .  Jana Alayra

Activity: PlayDough Reflections

Grab a piece of playdough or modeling clay.  Divide it into 5 pieces. Take the 1st piece and mold it into a shape to look like your parents.  Take the 2nd piece and mold it into the shape of a bible.   Next make a shape of a heart.  The 4th shape to make is a heart.  The last shape is a dove.  Take a look at all 5 of the shapes.  They look great eh?

Pick them all up and squish them all together. Yep, you read the right….. Squish them into one big blob.  Next making one more creation….you…  We read today that we are God’s masterpeice.  As you are taking the shapes you already made, think about how God has used these things in your life to make you into who you are!

This Week's Focus:

He Is ... I Am
GOOD

Undeniably Present!

I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them.             Romans 15:14

LET'S READ:   Mark 5:1-20

Jesus Out Of The Boat Healing

unnamed (25).png

To help us remember the story, let’s make origami pigs by following the instructions below.  Just as God  helped the possessed man by taking the “bad” out of the man and putting into the pigs, we wants to take the bad out of us.

As you are folding the pig think of things you would like him to help take out of you. Maybe you’ve had a bad thought about a friend? Or you’ve got mad at something you wish you wouldn’t have? Maybe on the side of the pig you can write your favourite scripture or a phrase like “with God I’m full of goodness”

This week we have two songs to soak to.  Before soaking ask God: “what are things inside me that aren’t so good?  God please show them to me, and like the pigs jumping off the cliff got rid of the bad things in the man, I ask you to take my bad things from me and fill them with you.

Living out of my identity in Christ!

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book "He Is - I Am."

This Week's Focus:

He Is RIGHTEOUS
I Am RIGHTEOUS

His Kingdom is the world I live from and look forward to!

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21.

What if you were given a “special power” that would let you know what was going to happen before it did?  Imagine that……. What would you do?

What if you could tell where the soccer ball was going before it was even kicked? Would you use this to run ahead and stand where the ball is?? What if you felt like God was telling you not to? Would you listen or would you still run ahead and try to get to the spot where the ball will be?  Let’s look at this week’s story to see what Elisha did.

LET'S READ:  2 Kings 6:8-23

 Elisha and King Aram

or watch it on youtube:

unnamed (25).png

2 Kings 6:8-23

Elisah and the King Aram

Activity: Hide and Seek

Wow…. could you imagine that??? I know I can’t.

Let’s try this- try to play “hide and seek”.  Start by playing the way that you know a few times. (if you don’t have many people available to play, you could always have one person hide stuffed animals)

Then try playing again, but this time the “seeker” has a helper that watches where you hide and then tells you. Not very much fun was it.  How hard would that make it to “win the game” if someone was telling your every move?   That’s how the King of Syria felt.

When he found out that his every move was being told he was not very happy.  That’s why he went after Elisha.

unnamed (39).png

Imagine this……. You are in the middle of the biggest water gun fight EVER!!!!!!  You’ve found this great hiding spot where you can see EVERYONE…… and they are coming towards you.. What do you do?? You probably want to RUN away. Why would you stay and get soaked????

What if God told you to stay where you were? WHAT?? No way!! Then everyone will get me!!!  But he tells you to trust him…. So you do.

unnamed (40).png

Now…..Picture all of your opponents suddenly spinning in circles and walking around like they can’t see a thing…...and the lights all suddenly go out.  When they come back on and the people who were about to surround you and get soaked are now standing in the middle surrounded by

unnamed (41).png

a HUGE group of teammates who have the biggest super soakers and water balloons ever seen!!!!!!!  Isn’t that cool.

Then instead of soaking the “enemies” they put all the water balloons and water guns down to serve the “enemies” a snack?  WHAT????  That’s kinda what happened. Unbelievable eh?  When God gives us new eyes to see it’s amazing how things can change.

Reflect Song

unnamed (30).png
unnamed (33).png

I want you to remember in today’s story where Elisha’s servant opened his eyes and saw an “army of angels”. While listening to this week’s song, I want you to either draw on paper or just soak and imagine in your mind what your “army of angels” looks like.

This Week's Focus:

He Is RIGHTEOUS

with A Holy Hunger

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21.

unnamed (36).png

Have you ever been soooooo hungry…. you’ve actually said “I am  so hungry I could ANYTHING!!”

I know I have.  What if I said- “then fill yourself up with Righteousness”

HUH????  There’s a scripture that talks about that -

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Let’s look at this weeks story to see if we can figure out what they were meaning:

LET'S READ: Luke 18:9-14
Parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector

While you do the ”spot the difference" sheet below, think about different things you’ve done in the past few weeks.  Have you been more like the Pharisee or the Tax Collector?

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book "He Is - I Am."

This Week's Focus:

He Is RIGHTEOUS
I Am RIGHT

with no self deception, it’s a PURE GIFT

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21.

Have you ever played make believe?  You know…. The game you pretend to be something or someone else??  Perhaps it was a Royal King, or a fair princess….  Do you remember WHY you were pretending to be someone else???

I have twin nieces.  When they were babies they looked so similar it was hard for people to tell them apart.  Sometimes I would joke around and would convince some people that they were the opposite. While it seemed like a fun and harmless joke, the last time I had did it  it had really hurt someones feelings.  I didn’t do it to hurt anyone, I was trying to have fun.  After that day I no longer did it just in case….  Today’s story is also about pretending to be someone else.

LET'S READ: Genisis 25, 27 and 33:10
Story of Esau and Jacob

Interesting story eh?  Kind of reminds me of the prodigal son story.  The child who had done the wrong still receives the blessing….. Sometimes doesn’t seem fair eh?  Because we were born into righteousness we are still entitled to receive the blessings… even if we mess up.  Remember,, he has a purpose and a plan for our lives.  Has anyone ever seen something you do or a way you act and say “You are just like your parent?.  That’s like family traits or inheritance… WE are GODS children We are to recieve the righteousness!!!!

unnamed (25).png

Try This:
See if you can find a sucker or a candy. It must have a wrapper around it.  The wrapper protects the candy/sucker.  Now take off the wrapper off then roll the candy in the dirt outside. That tasty treat is no longer desirable. The wrapper protecting the sucker is like righteousness protecting your heart. Having the right desires and motives keeps you from making bad choices and sinning.
