October 17 LOVING JESUS - IT’S A TOGETHER THING!

Message: Confessing Sin Together! It Heals.

Memory Verse:

I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May the experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17:22-23

Bible Story: Mark 2:1-12 Forgiveness! IT’s a miraculous thing.

Key Scripture:

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16

Reflection:

I often say, “people in love with Jesus need people they can sin with….”, odd I know.

But let me clarify. Often Christ-followers want to be seen as doing the right thing. So when the feel or do something sinful, shame often causes them run and hide. Instead, when we have sin in our lives Jesus reveals and the scriptures agree, God wants us to bring sin into the light (1 John 1:6-7).

Repentance or “confession” flows out of the believer because of the revelation of God’s kindness, not judgement! (Romans 2:3-4). As we celebrate the truth that Loving Jesus is a together thing, let’s remember God’s Word encourages us to “confess our sins to each other” - James

Psalm 32:1-5 reminds us that we feel a whole lot better after confession. James 5:16-17 reveals confessing sin is a together thing. And if forgiveness, the fruit of repentance / confession of sin, is a miraculous as seeing our lame friend walk. Why wouldn’t we want come into the presence of Jesus with people we love experience the miraculous power of forgiveness that comes from doing life with Jesus!

Loving Jesus, we learn that confessing sin is a powerful healing “together thing” we get to do!
