Mar 20 A HOLY SPIRIT PICTURE THAT SAYS, KEEP (mikey)

THE FAITH, STAY SAFE! Hebrews 3:7-11

A Verse to Remember: Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

Hebrews 3:7-11 (The Passion Translation)

This is why the Holy Spirit says, “If only you would listen to his voice this day! Don’t make him angry by hardening your hearts, like your ancestors did during the days of their rebellion, when they were tested in the wilderness. There your fathers tested me and tried my patience even though they saw my miracles for forty years they still doubted me! This ignited my anger with that generation and I said about them, “they wander in their hearts just like they do with their feet, and they refuse to learn my ways. My heart grieved over them so i decreed: they will never enter into the calming rest of my Spirit!”

Gospel Story: Matthew 21:33-46 Jesus Creates a picture, it’s a “sign” to have faith and stay safe!

Reflection:

When I’m out on the big water boating, there are all kinds of signs, “pictures” that warn boaters to keep them safe! How many hazard signs can you think of that are meant to protect you. Slippery when wet. No diving here. Power lines above. Bump on the road. There are all kinds of signs that use pictures to help us to stay safe.

That is exactly what Jesus in this Gospel story is doing. Builders sometimes get to the point where they think they are THE BUILDER. Jesus tells a story to remind folk that the Builder we all need to remember is God! His “evil farmers” story is used to create a picture that warns people about the risk of not honouring the owner of the “land”.…God. Jesus too, quotes scripture, and it too is a picture that explains his story.

The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the Lords doing, and it is wonderful to see.” Matthew 21:42

Jesus creates a picture for us with this story. It’s a warning sign, that is meant to help us stay safe. Like the author of Hebrews, Jesus wants people to put their faith in Him, the Son of God. And the promise is if you do, you’ll stay safe and live the life God longs for you to experience through faith in Him!
