June 19 Keep on loving others as long as life lasts! *Fathers Day
A Verse to Remember:
And now, just as you have accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into hime, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6:9-12
Dear friends, even though we are talking this way, we really don’t believe it applies to you. We are confident that you are meant for better things, things that come with salvation. 10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. 11 Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. 12 Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.
Gospel Story: Luke 10:17-24 The 72 return to Jesus with Joy!
Reflection:
In the above verses, the author of Hebrews is pouring on the love for his Christian brothers and sisters who have kept the faith. And more than just that. They have kept on serving God, by loving one another. While some folk give up on Jesus, he is telling his readers “that’s not you!” There are greater things to come because of your salvation. HOLD ON TO THAT PROMISE!!!
Take a moment and look at the key ingredients that he says will take us into all the “greater things that God has for us…. :
1) God is not unjust, he sees all your hard work for Him.
2) God sees how you have shown you love for Him by caring for other believers-as you still do!
3) our greatest desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts … in order to make certain …. that what you hope for will come true..
God’s faithfulness combined with your faithfulness is a winning combo! “Keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.” Wow!! Who knew that loving others is key to staying alert and spiritually alive. Not only that it prepares the soil for God to fulfill God’s promises for you and me!!! See 1 Cor 13:1-13.
