“every home a house of praise” --

Your home, a place of heavenly encounter and a mission from heaven to earth!

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book He is— I am

The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.

Luke 1:35

Bible Story: Jesus declares who he is. John 8:31-58

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I am!” John 8:58

Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35)

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12)

Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures (John 10:9)

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. (John 11:25-26)

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Reflection for Parent(s): Every home a house of praise!

I hope you enjoyed your children’s answers to last week’s question, “How did Jesus come to know who he was?”

Why questions? Questions open doors. “Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you” (Luke 11:9-10)…

My prayer is that you are on a journey with your children. More than preaching “truth” to your children, my prayer is that the way you live is setting them up to experience the revelation of Christ that can only come from God Himself! (Matt 16:15-17).

As parent, and as I pray for you as parents, my prayer is that somehow God would use our lives and our walk with Him to be an inspiration for our kids to do the same. Let the substance of our lives set the stage for them to ask questions, guess at answers, ponder deeply and experience personally, what it is to “live in Christ”.

Laurie from our Selah Fire Family makes this profound statement at the beginning of his book, HE IS-I AM, he writes, “Jesus did what he did because he knew who he was”….

This week we highlight the fact that it is undeniable from Scripture that Jesus had a clear and solid self understanding. He was secure in his identity. In his own words, “I know where I came from and where I am going” (John 8:14).

As Laurie points out, “he knew who he was”. Before we begin to establish our identity in Christ we want to lay a foundation for our Selah Fire Family. That foundation is Jesus. And one truth that we have to celebrate and understand is that the “pioneer and perfecter of our faith” knew who he was while he walked the earth! Take some time to help your kids begin to ponder this truth and celebrate it. Together, as a family, see if you can memorize the above eight “I AM” declarations of Jesus!
