April RESURRECTION POWER —TODAY!

Scripture to Remember:

11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11

April 2 Resurrection Power for LIFE at Home!

Gospel Story: Luke 24:1-12 Peter Runs to the empty tomb

1 Peter 3:1-7

In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over 2 by observing your pure and reverent lives.3 Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 4 You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. 5 This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They put their trust in God and accepted the authority of their husbands. 6 For instance, Sarah obeyed her husband, Abraham, and called him her master. You are her daughters when you do what is right without fear of what your husbands might do.7 In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.

1 Cor 9:5 -Peter takes his wife with him as he lives for Jesus…

Reflection:

It’s a simple phrase, “he went home and wondered what had happened”. Today we want celebrate the fact that that there is “resurrection power for life at home”. The women went to the tomb, found it empty. Then “suddenly” two, I will call them “Angel men” appeared and shared that “He isn’t here. He is risen from the dead… Remember what he told you back in Galilee”. With this heavenly news, the ladies went back home to share it with the apostles.

Who wouldn’t want to go home to the apostles and let them know this glorious news. Surprisingly, this was the Apostle’s response, “But the story sounded like non-sense to the men, so they didn’t believe it”. Can you believe it?

But what about Peter? Peter jumped up and ran to the tomb to look”. He looked in, saw the empty linens, no Jesus, no angel men in “dazzling clothes”. So what did he do? The Bible tells us “he went home again wondering what had happened.”….

Resurrection power for life at home! If it’’s true that “the The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you” - you take resurrection power home with you everyday! Think of the many ways God’s resurrection power is at work in your home life. THANK HIM FOR IT! Do you have any areas in your home life where you need God’s resurrection power to bring life to your home life?!! Ask him. Strangely too, resurrection life at home may look ridiculously practical, read 1 Peter 3:1-7. Does the “story” Peter provides us “sound like nonsense”? Run to the empty tomb like Peter did. Find out for yourself—He is Risen from the dead. And with an open heart “go home again” and wonder at, celebrate, and long for more and more of God’s resurrection power in your home life.
