Living out of my identity in Christ!

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book "He Is - I Am."

This Week's Focus:

He Is LOVE
I Am PRICELESS

unnamed (29).png

LOVE reveals who I am!

LET'S READ: Acts 3:1-16 (NIRV)

Peter Heals a Beggar Who Can’t Walk
3 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple. It was three o’clock in the afternoon. It was the time for prayer. 2 A man unable to walk was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful. He had been that way since he was born. Every day someone put him near the gate. There he would beg from

people going into the temple courtyards. 3 He saw that Peter and John were about to enter. So he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, and so did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man watched them closely. He expected to get something from them.

6 Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold. But I’ll give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk.” 7 Then Peter took him by the right hand and helped him up.

unnamed (25).png

At once the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. He went with Peter and John into the temple courtyards. He walked and jumped and praised God. 9 All the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 They recognized him as the same man who used to sit and beg at the temple gate called Beautiful. They were filled with wonder. They were amazed at what had happened to him.

Peter Speaks to the People at the Temple
11 The man was holding on to Peter and John. All the people were amazed. They came running to them at the place called Solomon’s Porch. 12 When Peter saw this, he said, “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us? It’s not as if we’ve made this man walk by our own power or godliness. 13 The God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has done this. God has brought glory to Jesus, who serves him. But you handed Jesus over to be killed. Pilate had decided to let him go. But you spoke against Jesus when he was in Pilate’s court. 14 You spoke against the Holy and Blameless One. You asked for a murderer to be set free instead. 15 You killed the one who gives life. But God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. 16 This man whom you see and know was made strong because of faith in Jesus’ name. Faith in Jesus has healed him completely. You can see it with your own eyes.

Activity: Walking, Leaping and Praising God! Lame Man Cup Puppet Craft

What you will need:

  • 9 oz. Party Paper Cups

  • Craft Sticks

  • Card Stock (Heavy Paper)

  • Clear Tape

  • Crayons or Colored Pencils

  • Yarn

  • Heavy Duty Thread

  • Hole Punch

  • Scissors

How to Make the Lame Man Cup Puppet Craft:

unnamed (1).jpg
  1. Using cardstock (heavy paper-if you don’t have any, try the inside of a cracker or cereal box) draw then cut out the following body parts:a head& neck, 2 arms with hands, 2 legs with feet. You can use the picture above to help you see how it’s to look when it’s done.

  2. Punch holes using a hole punch in the leg and the neck of the head .

  3. Punch a hole in the middle of a paper cup using sharp scissors. Keep the hole as small as possible. Punch a length of yarn through the bottom outside of the cup to the inside of the cup. Pull the yarn through and tie a large knot about five inches from the end of the yarn. Tie the end of the yarn to the hole in the top of the legs so that about half the legs hang down from the cup. (See picture)

  4. Fold the head  at the neck and string it onto the other end of the yarn and tape it to the bottom of the cup. Tape the yarn that is behind the head pattern to the back of the head. Tie the end of the yarn to a craft stick.

  5. Fold the arm patterns and tape them to the cup.

  6. You can also tie heavy duty thread to the feet and to the ends of the craft sticks to make a marionette. You can make the puppet dance by moving the craft stick and tapping the feet  to a table.

Once you are  done making it, , grab everyone in the house and re-tell our bible story using your new puppet!!!!!

Reflect Song

***NEW****
Each week we are going to have a “reflect song”.

You’ve been used to having a soaking song to listen

to each week.  Instead we are going to use the

“Weekly reflect song” in many different ways

to look back on the lesson and “reflect”

on what it’s trying to show. Also hoping

that it will be a song for the week that

you listen to and are reminded of the lessons learned that week.

This Week's Focus:

He Is - I Am

LOVE IS MY BIGGEST FAN

Soaking Time

Let me ask you a question:  WHO is your #1 fan???

Let’s start by soaking.

During this time of soaking, write a list of at least 10 things that you know that your GREAT at.  Next, ask the people in your house to also write a list of at least 5 GREAT things about you.

Champion | Mayra Alvarez | Hope City Worship | Bethel Worship

Next, let’s read this week’s story.
See if you can guess WHO is the #1 Fan in this story?

LET'S READ: Luke 15:11-32
The Crazy love of the Father!

Now, let’s go over that same question again. Who is the #1 fan of the son in this story?

If you’re like me, you probably guessed it was the father?????

Good guess, but it isn’t the father.

God is the #1 fan of the son  In fact, God is the #1 fan of ALL OF US!  Now that’s something to celebrate!!!!

unnamed (25).png

ACTIVITY: Now, it’s time to get our CHEER ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Materials:

  • 4 sheets of tissue paper in your team colors

  • A pair of scissors

  • Tape

Instructions:

  1. Select (at least) 4 sheets of tissue paper in whatever color combination you like

  2. Cut thin strips about 3/4 of the way up the entire length of the tissue paper (if you need help, ask mom or dad)Starting on one end your paper, gently roll it tightly, making sure to keep the ends of the tissue paper lined up.

  3. When you finish rolling, you’ll end up with handle to hold your pom poms

  4. When you’re finished rolling, tape the  end so it’s nice and tight.

  5. Give your pom pom a good shake and go

**Now, with your new pom pom’s beside you, take all those lists that you’ve made up with all the great things about you, and make up a cheer about YOU!!!!!

Use your new pom-poms and make up a whole routine! God is right there with you , cheering you on!

Living out of my identity in Christ!

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book "He Is - I Am."

This Week's Focus:

He Is - I Am

Holy Compelled By Love

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

He is Love - I am Priceless
LOVE LIVES AND DIES FOR ME
LET'S READ ALOUD: John 3:16

Let's take a moment and read this aloud:

”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16”

Say it again but this time but this time say it like you are a royal King making an announcement to a crowd of your people. Hear ye, hear ye!!!!. Then declare it out. Try it a few more times using different voices. This scripture is one we should try memorizing.

unnamed (23).png

I LOVE this scripture because it shows JUST how MUCH the father LOVES ME!!!!! He gave his only child for ME so that I could really LIVE!!!! Too often we think about the end result of things. We focus so much on our victories that we forget about the path it took to get there. As Jesus followers we focus so much on the how Jesus died for us, that we forget about his life here on earth and how much it did for us.

Think of all of the amazing bible stories that we learn about that were from Jesus life when he walked right here on earth!!!!! Both are important and AMAZING things that he did for us! WHY?????? Because he LOVES US!

unnamed (22).png

Activity:  I Love It Because Game

Run around the house with a 1 minute timer and grab 10 random and very different items from the house. When done one at a time pull out an item, hold it up, and finish this sentence, “I love this [insert name of item] because . . .even if they don’t love the item, try hard to find something lovable about it. (For example: “I love this pencil because I can draw things with it.” “I love this book because it has great pictures in it.” “I love this whisk because it’s shiny.”). Keep going until you have done this with each item

So that was kind of silly, wasn’t it? Lot's of items aren’t things we usually LOVE, are they? But just think: If we can find something to love about these things that are eventually going to be lost or worn out, think about how much more important it is to find something to love about the people you know—the people who God created and loves!.

unnamed (24).png

Soaking Time

Take some time to soak:

Think about something in your life that has happened that maybe hasn't left you with best feeling. Has there been a time where you've said or done something and then you've felt bad after because you know it wasn't the best choice made? As you listen to this song remember that time, then lay it down at the cross. It's done. He LOVES you still!!

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

LET'S READ: Genesis 45:1-15

The story of Joseph is a pretty incredible one. This little “snippet” of his story shows us a great deal about his good character and how God wants us to live. He showed his brothers who he TRULY was! And he ended up being EXACTLY what they needed. His brothers had been so mean to him, but instead of anger, he chose to embrace the destiny he was given and love and support those who had wronged him-talk about living in holiness!!

unnamed (15).png

Have you ever done something or been in a situation where you could either do something that wasn't the greatest thing, but then “something inside of you” told you to do something else?
Let me give you an example. When I was younger my brother did something to me to make me REALLY mad.......he took my favorite Barbie in my brand new Barbie car and ran the car down the staircase. I was so upset... I knew I had to make a plan for revenge to get back at him. Finally I got the chance to get back to him, and he would never really know what was going to happen until it did... He had left out his pack of hockey cards and had finally got the one he had been waiting for.  I was finally getting the chance to pay him back for all the times he hurt me..... just when I was about to rip up the card something inside me said “NO”. It wasn't right. Ripping up that card wasn't going to make things better. It's not the kind of person I wanted to be either. When we chose to live “on the other side of the cross” or we choose holiness, we start to make the right choices on our own! And start to live the life that God designed us for

Activity: What Makes Things Move?

Find items around your home that require help to move or to work. (examples are: dinky cars/flashlights/ dolls/) Take time to do the activity, but really thing about HOW they work or move, and what makes them move/work.

Now thing about your self....what makes you move? What MOTIVATES you to move? (God does) Now take those same things and try to use one to help move/motivate the other (example use your Barbie to push the car). Then think.... how can I be used to motivate others? When you do that it's compelling you..... You've seen how God has been moving/working in your life.... you use that memory to COMPELL you to help others....

Soaking Time

Take some time to soak:

During this time lets ask God to show us a time when we weren't living the way he designed us for. Let's ask him to show us what “compells us” to do what we do in those situations....... and then ask him to reveal to us how we can adjust our focus so that we are compelled to make different (holy) choices.

“HE IS - I AM : LIVING OUT OF MY IDENTITY IN CHRIST!”

This week's focus: He is - I am. Holy.Born from above

Let's start by reading this week's story:John 3:1-21 What Jesus reveals to Nicodemus-it’s a must.

Ever find out you have something in common with a new friend/classmate?

I remember the day I found out my friend and I were born at the same hospitial the same day. In fact our moms were in the same hospital room. What's really neat is it wasn't until years later when I was in highschool that I met this girl and eventually found out the connection. In our lesson today we learn that when you believe that Jesus was born from above, you too are born from the same place!

marble-2398946__340.webp

Activity:

Make up a list of “my favorite thing is” etc......or use the one below.....

Then get everyone in your house to fill it out or say their answers.

Maybe you'll find out you have something in common with them that you didn't know. When you have things in common, you can then use them to connect to each other in new ways. Just as God is wanting to connect with us

image (22).png

Watch both Videos,

Both are based on part of the scripture we've learned about today, both sound different and give different messages but based on same truths. Just like we can be very different from our friends or classmates, but one similarity can connect us

“HE IS - I AM : LIVING OUT OF MY IDENTITY IN CHRIST!”

This week's focus: He is Holy — I belong exclusively to Him!

Soooooo. If I belong to him,and he is holy........ then does that make me holy?

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

So I am chosen.... and a royal priest.... and I belong to him..... time to start looking the part..

Let's get out the construction paper, scissors, tape, markers and any other decorations we can find and let's make our selves a crown to wear. Be creative...be fun...... be royal.

With your new crown on, let's read the bible story: Acts 8:26-39 Philip and Ethiopian

In Acts 8 God chose the Ethiopian. Cool thing is he used Philip to make his choice known! God’s choice reveals how God can choose people to “show others the goodness of God”. (For another example, Read Colossians 1:1-23)

It’s His choice that makes us Holy, totally and completely His.

we need to see it as in invitation to be who He created us to be!!!!!!!!

Let's soak to I belong to you.

Before we start, let's as God to show us who he's created us to be? When the song is done, make yourself and invitation. God is inviting you to be?

Quote by Laurie Langdon from his book He is— I am

This week's focus: There are some pretty amazing things in my Father’s House. And I’m one of them!

READ: John 14:1-14

I love verse 2 how it talks about “My fathers house has many rooms, if that were not so, would i have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”

Lets take a moment now and listen to the song “my fathers house” by Cory Ashbury

While the song is playing take a moment to soak and envision what the room for you in heaven looks like.

Then draw it. Or cut pictures out of a magazine of the things in it.

Once your done, ask yourself “why did God choose this room for me?

image (19).png

Activity: Let's focus on those 2 verses again.

First, choose one action below:

1-pretend someone has asked you to either set the kitchen table like you are going to eat a fancy meal

2- pretend someone has asked you to get set up to do a “family games day”

Once you've picked your activity, actually do it. When your done, ask yourself:

1-why did i do this?

2-did i have to think about what and how I was going to do this?

3-were there different steps I had to take?

4-when i was setting up did i ever think that we WOULDNT be doing what I had set up for???

You likely did this because you were asked to. You had to prepare the steps like:deciding what was needed/gathering items/setting them up/etc...... but you set it up to get prepared for the activity. You weren't thinking “yea, i'm doing all this so we DONT do it”??????? NOPE!!!!!!!!! It's the same with heaven and the fathers house.

The bible tells us v2“ if that were not so, would i have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”

and then in verse 3 with his promise “And if i go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”

WOW- he prepares a room JUST FOR YOU!!!!!and he promises to come back to get you. Just like when you did the activity knowing you were preparing for something. Now that you know he's prepared a room for just for you, and you've had time to think and dream about what that may look like. Think about how you are in your own home. Does anyone ever notice that when you spend a lot of time together, you start acting (and sometimes even start to look like) one another?! That's what they mean when they talk about “being in the likeness”. We want to be like him!!

“I am declarations of Jesus”

If you don't have your objects gathered up, now's the time to run around your house and find objects that will help you to remember the scriptures that go along with each thing (they don't have to be the same, use whatever you have that will help you to remember. This week's focus: “One” in and with the Father

READ: Jesus prays in John 17 … emphasis v.20-25

22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one ???????? What does that verse even mean? He is saying that he gave US the fathers glory so we can be the same? HUH???

Let me tell you a little story. My mom makes the BEST pancakes!! No matter what I did and which recipe i tried they were NOTHING like hers. Until one day, I asked her for the receipe. Guess what? They turned out just like hers (not exactly....hers are pretty great) but they were close.

God has given us his own “recipes” that if we follow, we can be just like him and recieve the exact same glory that he gave to Jesus. We have the words in the bible, he has giving annointing to those in ministry and worship for the “recipe's” to flow through their words and their songs.

G68000-norwall-patton-wallcovering-organ
G68000-norwall-patton-wallcovering-organ

Let's try to “be one” by playing the Mirror Game:

Pick a partner and stand directly across from them so you are facing each other. If you don't have someone able to partner up with you, just stand in front of an actual mirror. Take turns being the “leader” by SLOWLY doing different actions (jumping jacks, brushing your hair, making a recipe, etc....) the person across from you will try to imitate the same thing your doing at the same time, just like looking in a mirror

image (18).png

Soaking time:

Play: “One with him” feat. Kaelan Kiernan and Steven Musso

During this time, ask the lord to show you an example of something your working through right now. Ask him to show you in that situation how “you can be one with him” and he can show you what to do by doing what he is doing.

“I am declarations of Jesus”

This week's focus: THE NECESSITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

The Holy Spirit- We have talked so much about it. But when do we first learn about it? If we look, way back to when Mary was pregnant with baby Jesus, the bible tells us “The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. “Luke 1:35

Wow even then there was Holy Spirit!!! Do you think it was the holy spirit that was filling Mary to make her feel comfortable when she was told that she was pregnant? That's pretty BIG NEWS to hear! But Mary was so good with it the whole time. I think it was the peace the holy spirit brought to her that helped her realized it was going to be ok.

Let's soak to: “Rest on us” by Brandon Lake

during this time I want you to try to focus on a time where you were told something that didn't make you feel the most settled. Ever have news that makes you feel uneasy? Now picture the holy spirit coming into the situation and helping you to find and have peace about it.

G68000-norwall-patton-wallcovering-organ

Now get out a blank piece of paper. You can either just draw yourself in that situation after the holy spirit has filled you, or draw a line down the centre of the page and show both before and after. If you don't want to draw you can just write about it, or perhaps make up a song about it.

Next, let's learn about another time the Holy Spirit shows up in the bible

READ: Jesus’ baptism. Matthew 3:13-17.

What's neat about this story??? This is the time where the heaven's opened up and released the holy spirit (his helper). This is also where his ministry began. Without this, we would never have been given the same gift of the holy spirit a short time later (our helper).

G68000-norwall-patton-wallcovering-organ

Now.... let's review the “I am declarations of Jesus” again.

If you don't have your objects gathered up, now's the time to run around your house and find objects that will help you to remember the scriptures that go along with each thing (they don't have to be the same, use whatever you have that will help you to remember. This week's focus: THE POWER OF DECLARATION.

What does it mean to declare? The dictionary says it means to “formally declare a state or situation...”. So what does that mean? When you “declare” something, think of it as an announcement of something.
